The hood can teach you life lessons and urban wisdom at such a very young age that even some adults today are ignorant at the subject at hand. It’s both truly a blessing in disguise and also a land of complete narcotic depression which lacks anticipation, growth and change as a community. I been through it all here. There are times girlfriends refused to visit and even a handful of my friends refused to visit because of this reputation; A crushing experience that makes me the isolated and sometimes quiet individual I can be. That’s why the closest friends, bros, home-girls and acquaintances I ever met live right here with me. In the gutter. In the slimes. Rock Bottom. The same people who aren’t so rare because in fact we all, as a community, share a similar tale…
My 13 years here in Brownsville, Brooklyn NYC helped made me the man I am today…and yet I’ll still miss 11212 when I eventually get out of here.. Until then.
